David J. Kassie
Group Chairman

David Kassie is Group Chairman of Canaccord Financial Inc. (which owns Canaccord Genuity).  David was Principal, Chairman and CEO of Genuity Capital Markets [November 2004 to May 2010] at which time Genuity was acquired by Canaccord Financial Inc. He is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CIBC World Markets and the Vice Chairman of CIBC [from 1979 – 2004].

Mr. Kassie has extensive experience as an advisor, underwriter and principal.  He sits on a number of corporate boards.  Mr. Kassie is actively involved in community and charitable organizations and is on the Boards of the Hospital for Sick Children, the Ivey School of Business and the Toronto International Film Festival Group. 

Mr. Kassie holds a B.Comm. (Honours) in Economics from McGill University, 1977 and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, 1979.

Peter Brown
Chairman & Founder

One of the leading figures in Canada’s investment community, Peter Brown is Chairman and Founder of Canaccord Financial.  Canaccord Financial is one of Canada’s largest independent investment dealers with head office in Vancouver, B.C. and thirty-two offices across Canada, the U.S., London and China.

Mr. Brown is currently serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Fraser Institute.  Mr. Brown is B.C.’s representative on the Advisory Committee to the Canadian Securities Transition Office.  He is currently serving as a federally appointed Lead Director and Member of the Finance Committee for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic & Paralympics Games.   He is a Director of the Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion Project Limited & Pavilion Corp (both Crown Corporations).  He is also a Director and Member of the Executive Committee of the Investment Industry Association of Canada.

Mr. Brown has served on the boards of numerous private sector and crown corporations.  Among his attainments, he is the past Chairman of the University of British Columbia, The Vancouver Stock Exchange, B.C. Place Corporation and B.C. Enterprise Corporation (both Crown Corporations).  He was also the Vice Chairman of Expo 86 Corporation. 

Mr. Brown is a past recipient of the B.C. Chamber of Commerce Businessman of the Year award; the B.C. & Yukon Chamber of Mines Financier Award, the Pacific Entrepreneur of The Year Award for 2001 and in 2002 the Distinguished Service Award by the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.  In January 2003, Mr. Brown received a Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.  In June 2003, he was awarded the Order of British Columbia.  The Brotherhood Inter-Faith Society recognized Peter Brown as their Person of the Year in February 2004.  In the Spring of 2005, Mr.  Brown received an Honourary Degree (Doctor of Laws) from the University of British Columbia.  In 2007, he received the Distinguished Graduate Award from St. George’s School and the Ted Ticknor Award for Exceptional Contribution from Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver.  Mr. Brown received the Fraser Institute’s T. Patrick Boyle Founder’s Award in 2009.  He also became a Honourary Member of the Vancouver Police Pipe Band.  In 2010, Peter Brown was inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame recognizing his entrepreneurial spirit and contribution to Canada’s mining industry.  He also received the first ever civilian commendation from the Vancouver City Police.  Ernst & Young recognized him with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010 and in May 2011 he was inducted into the Business Laureates of BC Hall of Fame.

Paul Reynolds
President & Chief Executive Officer, Canaccord Financial Inc.

Paul Reynolds was named as President of Canaccord Financial Inc. in August 2006 and CEO in August 2007. He is very active in investment banking operations and leads the firm from Canaccord's Toronto office.

Mr. Reynolds has over 20 years of experience in the securities industry, beginning as a floor trader.  He joined Canaccord in 1985, working as an Investment Advisor in Vancouver. Mr. Reynolds specialized in financing emerging and developing companies in the resource, technology and biotechnology sectors.

Between 1999 and 2008, he managed Canaccord's London, England office as President and COO of European operations. Mr. Reynolds has been integral to the development of our business in Europe and a primary contributor to our successful position as an active participant in the European equity markets, specializing in small to medium-sized emerging companies.

Brad Kotush, CA
Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, Canaccord Financial Inc.

Brad Kotush is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the company. He is responsible for overseeing Canaccord's financial activities, administration, and operations.

Mr. Kotush joined Canaccord in 1998 after having gained experience at KPMG and a local investment dealer, where he was Chief Financial Officer. Beginning as Vice President of Special Projects with Canaccord Capital Corporation (now Canaccord Financial Ltd.), Mr. Kotush rapidly grew his contribution, serving as CFO and Corporate Secretary for Canaccord in Europe and Chief Information Officer and SVP Finance in Canada. A Chartered Accountant, Mr. Kotush received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia.

Howard Balloch
Chairman of Canaccord Genuity Asia Limited

Howard Balloch is a director on Canaccord Financial Inc.’s board of directors and Chairman of Canaccord Genuity Asia Limited. Mr. Balloch is a distinguished industry executive who has built respected relationships with many key stakeholders throughout China. After serving almost six years as the Canadian Ambassador to China, he founded The Balloch Group in 2001 and grew it into China’s leading boutique investment bank, which Canaccord acquired in January 2011.  Prior to the past fifteen years spent in China, Mr. Balloch held a number of senior positions in the Canadian Government in Ottawa.  He now serves as a director of several companies, including Methanex Corporation, Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. and Ivanhoe Energy Ltd.

James M. Brown, CBV,

President & Head of Investment Banking (US), Canaccord Genuity Inc.

Mr. Brown has served as a member of Canaccord’s Investment Banking team since joining the firm in 1997. He has extensive experience in equity financing and fiscal advisory for emerging growth companies. In June of 2006, he assumed the role as Head of Investment Banking for Canaccord Genuity in the United States. He now holds the role of President overseeing operations in Boston, New York, San Francisco and Houston. Mr. Brown leads a team of 160 capital market professionals with a coordinated effort between Equity Research, Institutional Sales and Trading and Investment Banking for growth companies in the areas of Sustainability, Technology and Life Sciences. He is based in Boston maintains an office in New York and brings strong cross border transactional experience to the firm.
 
Mr. Brown is a graduate with distinction of McGill University (B.A.), is a Chartered Business Valuator, serves on the National Advisory Committee for the Toronto Stock Exchange Group and is a Director of BC Hydro, one of Canada’s largest electric utilities.

Steve Buell
Managing Director, Head of US Research

Stephen Buell joined Canaccord Genuity in May of 2010 as managing director and director of U.S. Equity Research.  In this role, Buell leads a team of 32 research professionals focusing on growth companies in the energy, technology, life sciences, consumer and sustainability sectors. The U.S. based analysts at Canaccord Genuity currently track more than 260 companies in these five key areas.

His prior experience includes serving as head of investment research at Piper Jaffray.  Previously, Buell served as director of research at Thomas Weisel Partners. He has also held similar positions at Prudential Equity Group and Dreyfus Corporation.

Buell holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Rochester, School of Medicine and a BA in Biology from the University of Colorado.

Mike Cuthbert
Managing Director, Institutional Sales (UK)

Mike is a Managing Director at Canaccord in charge of equity sales. He has extensive industry contacts having worked in the City for 22 years starting his career with HSBC James Capel in 1987. He was a founding Director of Bridgewell Securities in 2003 where he was Head of Sales and involved in building a Corporate client base of 85 in four years. This included being part of the team responsible for the Xchanging IPO in 2007.

Daniel Daviau
Managing Director, Head of Investment Banking

Prior to the Genuity/Canaccord merger announced early in 2010, Mr. Daviau was a Principal and Founder of Genuity Capital Markets where he headed up the Equity Capital Markets group. Prior to 2005, Mr. Daviau was Co-Head of Investment Banking at CIBC World Markets which he initially had joined in 1991. At CIBC World Markets, Mr. Daviau had been Head of the Media and Telecommunications Group since 2000 and Head of the Technology Investment Banking Group in Canada since 1997. 
 
Mr. Daviau has experience in a broad range of financing transactions and mergers and acquisitions assignments. Equity offering experience includes public or private financings for many of Canada's leading technology, media and telecom companies. M&A experience is substantial having advised on in excess of US$50 billion of transactions in the past few years. 
   
In 2004, Mr. Daviau was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 40 under 40, honoring the top 40 Canadians who have reached a significant level of success in their respective fields. In addition, Mr. Daviau was a member of YPO (Young Presidents Organization).
 
Mr. Daviau holds an MBA from York University, an LL.B from Osgoode Hall/York University and a B.A. (Math and Statistics) from the University of Western Ontario.

Darren Ellis
Chief Operating Officer, Canaccord Genuity Limited

Darren Ellis joined Canaccord Genuity Limited in February 2008, and is the Chief Operating Officer for the UK business.  Formerly Darren was at Bridgewell Group plc where he was Finance Director & COO for the last six years.  Prior to that, Darren worked as FD for Robertson Stephens in the UK and for Charterhouse Bank.

Darren brings his extensive financial experience and strong industry contacts to Canaccord Genuity and is responsible for managing the Finance, Operations, HR and IT groups as well as playing a key role in the Risk and Compliance functions in the UK. He is also a member of the Canaccord Genuity Limited Board of Directors.

Philip Evershed
Managing Director, Head of Investment Banking

Philip Evershed became a member of the Board of Directors at Canaccord Financial Inc. on the closing of the acquisition of Genuity Capital Markets on April 23, 2010. Mr. Evershed was a Principal and Head of Investment Banking at Genuity Capital Markets, a Canadian investment bank, from its founding in 2004 until May 9, 2010. When the integration of the businesses of Genuity Capital Markets and Canaccord Financial Inc. was completed under the name Canaccord Genuity, Mr. Evershed became Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking of Canaccord Genuity Corp.
Before co-founding Genuity, Mr. Evershed spent 14 years at CIBC World Markets, most recently as Co-Head of Investment Banking and Head of Mergers and Acquisitions. Before joining CIBC, Mr. Evershed was Chief of Staff to the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada. Mr. Evershed sits on the boards of directors of Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. and Iogen Corporation.
Mr. Evershed has an MA (Economics) from the University of Toronto and a BA (School of Business and Economics) from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Robert Finlay
Managing Director, Head of UK Investment Banking

Robert joined Canaccord in 2004 and is head of the corporate finance team in London. He has over 20 years of corporate finance experience across both large and small caps as well as across a broad variety of sectors, including mining, energy and support services. Robert worked at Credit Lyonnais Securities, ABN AMRO, Hoare Govett and James Capel & Co. Limited.

Giles Fitzpatrick
President, Canaccord Genuity Limited (UK)

Giles Fitzpatrick joined as President of Canaccord Genuity Limited, Canaccord's UK operations, in July 2009.
Mr. Fitzpatrick is responsible for the management and growth of the UK-based equities business including the Sales, Trading and Research groups. With over 20 years of experience in financial services, Mr. Fitzpatrick was most recently the CEO of Fox-Pitt, Kelton. Prior to this, he spent five years on the Global Equities Management Committee at ABN AMRO, first as Global Head of Trading, and later as Head of European Equities.

Matthew Gaasenbeek, MBA
President, Canaccord Genuity Corp.

Matthew Gaasenbeek has over 15 years experience in the securities and financial services business. He has been instrumental in building the Global Capital Markets team, where he has advised on over $15 billion and been involved in over 12,500 transactions.


Prior to joining Canaccord, Mr. Gaasenbeek was a senior consultant at PriceWaterhouse in its Strategic Management Services Group, with a focus on valuations and corporate restructurings. He also gained sales experience during two years with Xerox Corporation.

Mr. Gaasenbeek holds a Bachelor of Arts from University of Western Ontario and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business, and has completed Masters-level business courses at Waseda University in Tokyo.

Tom Gabel
Managing Director, Head of US Sales

Tom Gabel serves as Managing Director and Head of US Institutional Sales at Canaccord Genuity Inc. He is dedicated to leading the Boston sales effort and driving the institutional sales strategy through four institutional teams nationwide.

Prior to Canaccord, Tom served as Managing Director and Senior Boston Salesman at First Union/Wachovia Securities, where he was instrumental in opening the Boston institutional equity office. Previously, Tom was first Vice President and Managing Director at Dain Rauscher Wessels, where he opened and managed that firm's Boston office. He also served as Vice President of Institutional Sales at Prescott Ball & Turben.

Tom graduated from John Carroll University with a BA in Marketing.

Dvai Ghose
Managing Director, Co-Head of Canadian Research

Dvai Ghose serves as Co-Head of Canadian Research and Telecommunications, Cable and Media Research Analyst at Canaccord Genuity. Previously, Dvai served in the same capacity at Genuity Capital Markets. He was the equity analyst covering Telecom and Cable Services at CIBC World Markets from 1999 to 2006 and at HSBC Securities from 1996 to 1999.

Dvai has been ranked the number one Canadian Telecom and Cable Services Analyst by Brendan Woods International for the last three years. He has also been ranked the number one equity analyst for stock picking and EPS estimate accuracy in the Telecommunications sector in North America by Starmine and Forbes Magazine.

Dvai received a Bachelor and a Masters of Arts degree from Oxford University in the United Kingdom.

Barry Goldberg
Managing Director, Global Head of Mergers, Acquisitions and Restructuring

Barry is a Managing Director and the Global Head of M&A and Restructuring of Canaccord Genuity Corp.  In 2005 he was a founding principal of Genuity Capital Markets which was acquired by Canaccord Financial in May 2010.  Barry has practiced in the area of financial restructuring since 1985, initially as a lawyer (partner @ Osler Hoskin to 1995 and Heenan Blaikie to 1998) and in 1998 et seq. as a financial advisor (until Genuity at a Canadian bank owned advisory firm).

Barry has major advisory restructuring experience across a broad array of industries including: forest products – White Birch, AbitibiBowater, Catalyst Paper, TimberWest Forest Corp., Quebecor World, Tembec Inc., Doman Industries Limited; transportation, Air Canada, Canadian Airlines and Aveos; oil and gas - Hurricane Hydrocarbons Ltd.; mining – Thistle Mining Inc., Echo Bay Mines Ltd.; steel – Algoma Inc., Ivaco Inc.;  agriculture/logistics - Saskatchewan Wheat Pool (now Viterra); food processing -  Specialty Foods Group Income Fund; media and communications – Canwest Media Inc., Canwest Newspapers, Entertainment One Income Fund, SR Telecom Inc., Call-Net Enterprises Inc.; consumer products – MegaBrands, Consumers Packaging Inc., Beatrice Foods Inc. (now Parmalat) and real estate – The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited. 

Barry obtained a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Civil Law and a Bachelor of Common Law from McGill University. He is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada (Ontario Bar) and has published extensively on topics related to financing and restructuring including: “The Ontario Guide to Personal Property Security”, Carswell, “The Canadian Credit Handbook”, McGraw Hill, Case Studies in Recent Canadian Insolvency Reorganizations – In Honor of the Honorable Mr. Justice Lloyd William Houlden, Carswell 1997 (Chapters: Cadillac Fairview, A Vulture’s Lean Cuisine and  The Restructuring of Beatrice Foods) and he has published numerous articles on related topics. Barry also has experience as a director of companies listed on the TSX and AIM and he was recognized as a top industrials banker in Canada in 2008 by Brendan Wood International.

Damien Hackett
Managing Director, Head of UK Research

Damien Hackett joined Canaccord in 2004 as a Senior Analyst in the Metals and Mining group.

He began his career in the finance industry in 1987 and quickly established himself among the top three metals and mining analysts in Australia before moving to London with Credit Suisse First Boston in 2001 as Global head of Metals and Mining research.
 
His experience in the mining and metals industry includes work with the Canadian mining consultants Watts Griffis and McOuat focused on base metal and gold project evaluation, before moving into the iron ore industry at one of BHP Billiton's operations in Australia. He left the iron ore industry as Head of the Exploration and Resource Development Division and took up a position in Saudi Arabia with the Directorate General of Mineral Resources as Senior Principal Economic Geologist.
 
Damien earned a BSc from the Australian National University.

Edward (Ted) Hirst
Managing Director, Global Co-Head of Investment Banking

Mr. Hirst was Head of North American Mining at CIBC World Markets prior to founding Genuity Capital Markets in late 2004. He joined CIBC World Markets in 1996 and built the team into the #1 ranked global mining M&A team.  Mr. Hirst has been involved in a wide variety of mining finance as well as mergers and acquisition advisory assignments including the acquisitions of Meridian Gold and Northern Orion for Yamana Gold, the sale of Bema Gold to Kinross, the four-way merger of Kinross, TVX Gold, 49.9% TVX Newmont Americas and Echo Bay, and the acquisition by Teck Cominco of a 46% interest in the Fording Canadian Coal Trust. Prior to CIBC, he was Co-Head of Corporate Finance for Bankers Trust Canada.

Mr. Hirst graduated from the Schulich Business School in 1985 with a B.B.A.

Timothy Hoare
CEO
Canaccord Genuity Limited (UK)


Timothy Hoare is the Chief Executive Officer of the UK operations of Canaccord Genuity Limited.
Mr. Hoare began his career in the securities industry when he joined Laing & Cruikshank, a London-based investment dealer, in 1975 as a mining analyst. He became a partner of that firm in 1979. In 1988 the firm was acquired by Credit Lyonnais and Mr. Hoare became a director of Credit Lyonnais Laing International in 1990. In 1993, Mr. Hoare established T. Hoare & Co. Limited, an investment dealer based in London, England which focused on research and institutional accounts and specialized in financing companies in the international resource sector. Canaccord acquired a minority interest in T. Hoare & Co. Limited in 1993 and through a series of corporate reorganizations it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canaccord Financial Inc. and now operates as Canaccord Genuity Limited.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hoare has been an active participant in the mining finance sector. He has arranged financings for resource companies around the world including intermediate producers and companies with properties at the exploration and development stage as well as international oil and gas companies.

Andrew Jappy
Executive Vice President & Chief Information Officer
Head of International Trading


Andrew Jappy joined Canaccord in 1996, and is currently responsible for all aspects of information technology and systems and is actively involved in managing the International Trading department.

Prior, Mr. Jappy was an executive at TCAM Systems, a trading and settlement software firm based in New York. He is currently a member of the Regulatory Services Advisory Committee, TSX Advisory Trading Committee, Industry Committee on Trade Reporting and Electronic Audit Trail Standards and the Vancouver Stock Traders Association. Mr. Jappy is a past member of the Security Traders Associations' Trading Issues Committee.

Ken Knowles
Managing Director, Head of Fixed Income

Kenneth R. Knowles is Managing Director and Head of Fixed Income. Ken has over 30 years of financial services experience, having begun his career with Dominion Securities in 1979.
 
He served Dominion Securities as a vice president in various positions in fixed income trading and sales as well as investment banking (1979-1990). Subsequently, he held various roles with JP Morgan (1990-2007) as a  Managing Director including President and CEO JP Morgan Securities Canada, member of the board JP Morgan Chase Bank Canada, Head of fixed income, Head of Treasury and local head of all markets related activities including foreign exchange, funding, derivatives sales and economic and strategy research.
 
Ken holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Bishop's University and is a Past Chair, Investment Dealers' Association Capital Markets Committee.

Don MacFayden
Chief Financial Officer, Canaccord Genuity Inc.

Mr. MacFayden is a Senior Vice-President of Canaccord Financial Inc. and Canaccord Genuity Corp. and is the Chief Financial Officer of Canaccord Genuity Inc. (a US broker-dealer based in Boston, Massachusetts and a subsidiary of Canaccord Financial Inc.).   From 2005 to 2007, Mr. MacFayden was employed by Canaccord Genuity Corp. in the areas of corporate development and risk management.  From 2002 to 2004 he was a consultant with Canaccord Genuity Corp. and before June 2002, Mr. MacFayden was the Chief Financial Officer of a public company with investments in several international telecommunications projects.  From 1986 to 1997, Mr. MacFayden held various positions with the predecessor firms to Canaccord Genuity Corp. and certain of its subsidiaries in the areas of corporate finance and investment fund management.  In connection with these roles he was President of MOF Management Ltd. (manager of Multiple Opportunities Fund, a mutual fund trust, and Special Opportunities Fund Ltd., a mutual fund corporation), President of DOF Management Ltd. (general partner of three different limited partnerships in a series of partnerships which operated under the name of Deductible Opportunities Fund) and President of CLD Financial Opportunities Limited (a private investment company).

Mr. MacFayden is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.

Martin MacLachlan
Senior Vice President, Legal Affairs

He is now also Corporate Secretary of Canaccord Financial Inc. and Senior Vice-President, Legal Affairs, of its wholly owned subsidiary, Canaccord Genuity Corp., a member of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (“IIROC”).

Until July 2004, Martin MacLachlan was a partner of Miller Thomson LLP, one of Canada’s largest national and international firms. The Vancouver office of Miller Thomson was formed by a merger with Swinton & Company in Fall 2000. Martin joined Swinton & Company in 1981 as an articled student and was a partner of that firm at the time of the merger. Martin’s practice was concentrated in securities, corporate and societies law. He counselled clients on public and private financings, securities registration and compliance, corporate governance and general corporate matters. One of his major clients was Canaccord Genuity Corp. (then called Canaccord Capital Corporation).

A graduate of the University of British Columbia (B.Com., 1980; LL.B., 1981), Martin was called to the Bar of B.C. in 1982. In 1987, he obtained his LL.M. (with merit) in Commercial and Corporate Law from the University of London (London School of Economics and Political Science). He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2010.

Bruce Maranda, CA, CFE, FMA, FCSI
Executive Vice President, Director Global Compliance, Chief Compliance Officer

As head of Global Compliance, Bruce Maranda is responsible for overseeing Canaccord's compliance, registration and continuing education departments.

Before joining Canaccord in 2001 as Vice President, Compliance, Mr. Maranda held positions with Price Waterhouse, Revenue Canada Taxation, and the Auditor General of Canada.  At the Vancouver Stock Exchange, he served in compliance and enforcement, and as Director of Member Regulation at the Investment Dealers Association he was responsible for registration, compliance, investigations, and enforcement.

Mr. Maranda received his Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from UBC.  He has continued to gather credentials as a Chartered Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner and Financial Management Advisor, and has received the designation of Fellowship from the Canadian Securities Institute.

Jens Mayer
Executive Vice President, Managing Director, Co-Head of Investment Banking

Jens Mayer joined Canaccord in 2000. Based in Canaccord's Toronto office, Mr. Mayer is responsible for Canaccord's investment banking activity. Prior to joining Canaccord, Mr. Mayer was a vice-president or director on the mining teams at Yorkton Securities, Bunting Warburg and Gordon Capital. Prior to entering the area of investment banking, he worked as a consultant with Derry, Michener, Booth & Wahl, a geological and mining consulting firm.

Mr. Mayer has helped finance and provided advisory services to a number of major mining companies as well as many intermediate producers and mining companies in the exploration and development stage.

Bruce McDonald

Bruce McDonald joined Canaccord in 2002 to cover the royalty trusts and income funds sector. He joined the Investment Banking team in November 2007. Prior, he was Director of Corporate Planning at PrimeWest Energy Trust. He has also worked as an underwriter and financial analyst with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. A CFA, Bruce received a BA (Hons) from the University of New Brunswick and an MA in Economics from Queen's University.

Ali Pejman
Managing Director, Investment Banking & Head of PVC

Ali Pejman has been with Canaccord since April 2000. His experience includes the completion of numerous junior mining equity financings and advisory services for numerous junior resource companies. Ali sits on the BC Securities Commissions, Securities Policy Advisory Committee and the TSX Venture's Local Advisory Committee.

Prior, he worked as Manager of Corporate Taxation at PricewaterhouseCoopers, advising companies in real estate, mining and entertainment sectors.

Ali earned his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia in 1994 and received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1997.

John D. Rothwell
President, Canaccord Wealth Management

John D. Rothwell is President and Head of Private Client Services. John has over 30 years of financial services experience, having begun his career with Midland Walwyn Capital in 1977. 
 
He served Midland as Ontario Sales Manager (1984), National Sales Manager (1989) and EVP/Executive Committee member (1993). Subsequently, he held roles with Mackenzie Financial, as EVP in sales and distribution, and as Managing Director and EVP with Fidelity Investments. He joined Wellington West as EVP and Partner in 2003. In 2005, he was promoted to President, focused on recruitment, branch building and revenue growth.
 
John holds an Honours Bachelors degree from the University of Waterloo, as well as diplomas from McGill University, The Wharton School and Harvard University.

Earl Rotman
Vice Chairman, Investment Banking

Mr. Rotman has over 30 years of experience in the securities industry as a lawyer, underwriter, M&A advisor and merchant banker.

In 2010, Mr. Rotman joined Canaccord Financial Inc., Canada’s largest independent brokerage firm, when it acquired Genuity Capital Markets which Mr. Rotman co-founded in 2005.  Prior to co-founding Genuity, Mr. Rotman was a Vice Chair of CIBC World Markets where he was a member of both the Canadian and U.S. Investment Banking Operating Committees and the Merchant Banking Investment Committee. 

During his career, Mr. Rotman has been involved in numerous landmark transactions including:  Four Seasons Hotels purchase of Regent Hotels (M&A legal counsel); CanWest Global’s acquisition of Hollinger Newspapers (Canada’s largest ever media transaction (sole M+A advisor)), IPO of Yellow Pages Group (Canada’s largest business income trust (lead manager)), the IPO of Shoppers Drug Mart (lead manager) and CanWest Global/GS Partners acquisition of Alliance Atlantis (M&A advisor; largest Canadian Media LBO).

Mr. Rotman also pioneered the first U.S. Income Deposit Security, an innovative financial product --Corporate Finance Week named Volume Services of America IDS offering the ”Most Innovative Corporate Finance Transaction of 2003”.

Mr. Rotman is an alumnus of the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. He is also a Trustee of the Art Gallery of Ontario Foundation, a director of numerous public companies and President of Genuity Fund Management Inc., an alternative asset management company.

Graham Saunders
Managing Director, Co-Head of Institutional Equity Sales

Graham Saunders has over 15 years experience in the investment industry and brokerage business. Graham has been with Canaccord since 1996 and was appointed Head & Managing Director of Canadian Institutional Equity Sales in September 2007. Previously, Graham worked as a Financial Analyst with Integra Capital and as a Credit Analyst with Burns, Fry Ltd.

Ron Sedran

Ron Sedran joined Canaccord in 1999 to manage the Syndication and Equity Capital Markets desk. Prior, he was the syndication manager at Gordon Capital Corporation for over five years. During that time, Ron played an instrumental role in over 400 financings aggregating in excess of $50 billion of gross proceeds raised.

Angelo Sofocleous
Managing Director, Head of UK Trading

Angelo has some 20 years experience in the UK markets, primarily within the Investment Trust sector.  He joined Canaccord in June 2007 with his team, to establish a new “Investment Companies and Specialist Funds” sector.  He is also Head of Canaccord’s UK Equity Trading.  Previously he has held a number of senior management positions in City institutions, including Panmure Gordon and Credit Lyonnais Securities.

Jon Solodar
Managing Director, Head of US Sales Trading

Jon joined Canaccord Genuity as a Managing Director of Sales Trading September 2006.  Prior to Canaccord, he was with Cathay Financial as Managing Director Sales Trading, Fulcrum Global Partners as a Partner, Gerard Klauer Mattison as a Managing Director. He also has experience with IBM as a Sales Manager and Anderson Consulting.
 
Jon graduated with his MBA Finance from NYU Stern School of Business in 1995 and from Emory University with a BBA in Management in 1988.

Peter Virvilis
Executive Vice President, Operations & Treasurer

Peter Virvilis joined Canaccord in September 1987, and is responsible for overseeing much of the firm's back office services and administration as well as managing treasury-related activities.  

Currently, he serves as a director of the Canadian Depository for Securities, a member of the CDS Executive Committee, and a member of the Strategic Development Review Committee of the CDS. Mr. Virvilis is also a past chairman and is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the IIROC Financial Administrators Section, and the FAS Operations Sub-committee.
Prior to joining Canaccord, Mr. Virvilis was the Assistant Treasurer for Expo '86 Corporation from 1985-1987. He is past Chair of the CDS/West Canada Integration Committee, the CDS Western Development Committee and the West Canada Redevelopment Committee.

Mr. Virvilis earned a Bachelor of Arts in Commerce from the University of British Columbia in 1983.

John Vogel
Vice Chairman of Canaccord Genuity Asia

John Vogel has more than twenty years of experience as a senior fixed income trader, structurer and sales professional, and five years as an entrepreneur before returning to banking in 2009.

Previously, Mr. Vogel has held positions at Chase Manhattan (in credit training and treasury), CIBC Wood Gundy (in asset securitization and bond option trading) and Merrill Lynch (in bond option trading and sales). He also spent two years at Deutsche Bank as head of Canadian fixed income sales, and seven years at Toronto Dominion as head of European fixed income sales. Throughout his career, Mr. Vogel has been based in New York, Toronto, London, Hong Kong and Vancouver.  He is currently based in Beijing.

Mr. Vogel is the former President of The Balloch Group Canada, which was acquired by Canaccord Genuity in Jan 2011, and former Chairman of MyNext Mortgage, a vertically integrated Canadian mortgage broker and lender. He is also the Chairman and CEO of GEFCO, an Ontario solar finance company, Chairman of Toktumi, a mobile VOIP telephone solution for small businesses, and Chairman of NRX, an asset data management software provider. Mr. Vogel received his BA (Honors) in Economics from Queen’s University and is a Certified Financial Analyst.
